366 DAYS OF WONDER : DAY 5

"I Yam what I Yam" - Popeye the Sailor

This common term of "i am what i am" can be both constructive and destructive as well in their own way. One thing i've learnt from the past is not to follow anybody's footstep completely, be brave, take the road less taken. I've followed the majority of the society for the past few years, and it has brought me little or few happiness.

I've never wanted to be an engineer, nor to be in the education line as what my parents decided for me. In fact i wanted to either be in the law field or a movie director or a comic artist (tho i have no true talent in arts) even? Am just glad that i have finally found the line that i'm happy to be in and will most certainly give in my best effort to be successful in.

366 DAYS OF WONDER : DAY 4

"No man is an island, entire of itself." - John Donne

The mere thought of living life alone without friends and companionship scares me, yes it does. There are times when i absolutely hated everybody around me and just wish everybody could just disappear and leave me alone. Thank god those thoughts don't last longer that it should.

I've attended 2 universities from 2 different part of Malaysia. KL and Penang, the difference in companionship can be so different and yet similar in so many ways. Some friends may be fun to be with but is of very little value towards the progress of my studies, and some the other way round. I do believe that no individual is the same. I do cherish everybody around me, friends as well as family although sometimes i hated them with all my guts.

Growing up in a relatively 'kampung' environment, i've had a few close friends. rou qian, chang jen, hui ming and cili padi? Yes, those are my childhood friends. I guess they still live around me. We would spend the entire evening running around, playing hopscotch, sharing ghost stories about things coming out from the wall and catching worms. Life was that simple back then without any technological distraction. Chinese New Year used to be the happiest time of the year for us. Our parents don't really supply us with deadly amount of firecrackers and bombs of mass destructions during CNY, but still we manage to make good use of what we had that time.

OH YA, besides CNY, ang paos and firecrackers, another occasion very much looked forward by us is none other than the mooncake festival. Yes that will be the time of the year where we bring out our best assets.

366 DAYS OF WONDER : DAY 3

"Three things in human life are important, the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind"
- Henry James

It has always been in my nature to be compassionate to all beings, though not every time, well maybe only half the time.

Growing up as a child, people often see me as the kind "giant", yes giant, because i am fat. Teachers and adults don't really have issues with me. I can sit quietly on a spot for hours just reading that piece of Peter and Jane. And thus, i got the male role model award upon graduating from Shang Wu primary school. Nothing to be proud of really, since i am not that big of a role model now.

I do admit i have a heart for animals, taking care of the young as well as the old. I dont mind spending most of my time in a community center, provided i dont bore the hell outta the residents there with my lack of verbal capabilities.

People often say, kindness starts from the people closest to us, and i hate to admit this, but at times i do put more importance on outsiders more than people close to me. I'm sorry if you are that person close to me, ill put in more effort next time alright. <3

366 DAYS OF WONDER : DAY 2

"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it" - Ronald Dahl

Day 2 of the year 2016, everything's still on track except a few bumps here and there yesterday with someone important. Funny how anger can change one's personality completely.

Searched up on some of the few ways i find useful to distract myself from quickly falling into the pit of fire.

  1. Separate Emotion from Action
  2. Identify Why
  3. Cool Off with Exercise
  4. Delay Your Reaction
  5. Distract Yourself
  6. Do Your Homework (understand why)
  7. Find a Safe Haven
  8. Look Before You Leap
  9. Discuss Your Anger with Someone Trustworthy
  10. Listen to Music
  11. Disconnect from Your Triggers
  12. Redecorate
  13. Watch a Funny Movie/Show
  14. Do Something Relaxing
  15. Use Anger to Fuel Change
On a brighter note, everything went well today and manage to catch up on the much needed
rest post-new year celebration.

366 DAYS OF WONDER : DAY 1

"We carry within us the wonders we seek around us" - Sir Thomas Browne

First of all, welcome back to your own site Ivan, the same site you promised you'll visit and update more than a year back.

Well since it's a brand new year, let's just try make it a habit to write something to yourself as often as possible alright?

Year 2016 is the year of the Monkey. According to Chinese horoscope, February 4,2016 is the year of the monkey, Fire Monkey to be exact. Roughly 24 years passed by, everything felt like a daze, having made several bad decision in life such as being in the wrong course, being in wrong relationships, having the wrong hobby etc, can definitely be rough. However, it's the experience and lessons learnt along the way that counts. 2 Cycles of my life has passed by (One cycle being 12 years). This is definitely the year to strive.

I am not much of a person who believes in luck, feng shui and all those hocus pocus. I am a pure believer of hard work and a positive attitude. I rarely wish people good luck, instead ill wish them all the best. Perhaps that's what being taught by my mother since young.

Resolution for the year 2016

  • Get a property - Rent out if possible
  • Achieve greater heights in my work as a financial advisor - Hitting promotion 75k and recruitments 4 managers.

  • Sleep well eat well, play hard work hard.

Thai set lunch and Ala Carte at Zest Bar Cafe @ Glow by Zinc, Penang

ZEST Bar Cafe @ GLOW by Zinc is a rather unique cafe with loads of funky wall designs and colourful decors all around. I am lucky enough to be able to spend the saturday afternoon well fed with some delectable thai cuisines together with a happy bunch of penang foodies and bloggers.

GLOW HOTEL by ZINC

Don't you loveeeeee cafes that are bright and happy with plenty of colours all around.

The Colourful Interior of Zest Bar Cafe

I'm a huge fan of the design of this cafe, the modern chic look definitely lifts up any unhappy mood! Oh and not forgetting the very friendly bunch of waiters and waitresses too!

MIANG KAM - RM 8.00

Our first dish of the day, Miang Kam. I have personally tried Miang Kam from a lot of different thai restaurants, this one definitely take the ball in terms of spiciness and taste. How to eat? one may ask. The only true way to enjoy this dish is by wrapping everything (coconut, dried shrimps, garlic, onion, dried ginger, red chili, peanuts and lime) with the Betel Leaf and swallow em' in one bite! (unless you have a small mouth, then two bites!)

YAM WOON SEN - RM12.00

Next up! Yam Woon Sen. This glass noodle dish serves up a bomb that hits the tastebud the moment you try it. Yam Woon Sen is a spicy, sweet, sour and salty dish altogether! Served with lime and fresh prawns, this is a must try Thai cuisine from the menu!

GAENG KEOW WAN GAI - RM 18.00

Gaeng Keow Wan Gai! My personal favourite and thus this shall be the highlight of the day. Gaeng Keow Wan Gai is a green curry dish that is very popular amongst the Thais as well as everybody in general! The green curry is not that spicy but has all the necessary taste needed in a curry from all the added herbs and spices. Not a fan of chicken? Fear not, diners have a choice of prawn or chicken to come together with the green curry.

SOM TAM - RM10.00

Young papaya salad with dried shrimps and spices to top em off! This crunchy young papaya salad is an excellent appetizer which is very common in all thai cuisine. The savoury taste of the dried shrimps blends up the limey taste of the dish really well. Overall a satisfying dish!

TOM KHA GAI - RM 12.00

Next up will be a series of soup dishes specially served for all those avid thai cuisine lovers! First on the list is Tom Kha Gai, or Tom Kha Kai or Thai coconut soup is a spicy and sour hot soup with coconut milk in laos cuisine and thai cuisine. In Thailand, most Tom Kha Gai recipes typically include coconut milk, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, thai chili peppers, coriander, straw mushrooms (or shiitake mushrooms). chicken, fish sauce and lime juice. This is definitely a new experience for me, and i am proud to say, this soup is the bomb!

TOM YAM GOONG RM 18.00

Now this is a well known soup! Literally, the words "Tom Yam" are derived from two Thai words: "Tom" and "Yam". "Tom" refers to boiling process, while "Yam" refers to a kind of Lao and Thai spicy and sour salad. Thus, "Tom Yam" is a Lao and Thai hot and clear soup. The Tom Yam Goong served here has its very own version and "twist" in taste. Not being a fan of overly spicy soup, this one is just right for me to fully enjoy the taste of tomyam. Added in with fresh king prawns, this dish definitely carries potential!

PAD KRA PRAO - RM 18.00

Pad Kra Prao, i have personally tried a few variations of this particular dish, and not being a picky eater, i like every single one of them! Which includes this one as well. Pad Kra Prao or much better known as Thai basil chicken, is a contender for the most popular and most beloved street food dish in all of Thai cuisine. The minced chicken is sauteed to perfection with the very fragrant basil leaf. A big thumbs up for this ever so tasty dish!

KAENG PHET - RM 18.00

Kaeng Phet, is a popular thai dish consisting of curry paste to which coconut milk is added. This soup normally has a soup-like consistency and is served in a bowl and eaten with steamed rice. The choice of meat for this dish would either be prawns or chicken, we had prawn Kaeng Phet in this case. The eggplant goes really well with the dish!

GAENG MASSAMAN - RM 18.00

Gaeng Massaman is a Southern Thai dish with Indian influence. Diners have a choice of either beef or chicken to come along with rich roasted peanut curry sauce and potatoes. This dish tastes a lot like your usual Indian curry found in most mamak stalls. The main difference is the added cinnamon and nutmeg powder in it which makes it a class above the rest.

PAD THAI - RM 15.00

Pad Thai is a type of wok fried noodles with prawns, beansprouts, bean curd stir fried to perfection in egg pataya style.Pad Thai was made popular in Thailand during World War 2. Pad Thai has since become one of Thailand's national dishes. This savoury dish is listed as number 5 on World's 50 most delicious food readers' poll compiled by CNN Go in 2011. Now you see how highly the Thais rate their Pad Thai. Need i say more?

SANG KAYA FAK TONG - RM 7.00

Dessert time! Now who's up for some banana fritters and pumpkin pudding? Nothing much to say here! Sang Kaya Fak Tong, steamed sweet pumpkin with custard and coconut milk. Tastes a lot like how it looks! A great dessert nonetheless.

KHANON KHAO MAO - RM 7.00

Khanon Khao Mao, now that's a fancy name for banana fritters. Our usual friendly neighbourhood snack, the Pisang Goreng. The Khanon Khao Mao goes surprisingly well with the coconut milk. A heavenly combination all should try!

Latest Ala Carte Menu from the kitchen

All in all, this experience is definitely an eye opener for me towards Thai cuisines. For those food lovers with a tolerance for spice and heat. I do hope that you will have one as amazing as mine as well over at Zest Bar & Cafe. Do drop by for their amazing Thai cuisines whenever you visit Penang!

INDIBA Six Pack By Men's Skin Centre

Indiba Six Pack by Men's Skin Centres

Launching

Logo of the bar

I was invited previously to AcmeBar & Coffee located near to KLCC for the launching of Indiba Six Pack for Men’s Skin Centre. It was an awesome experience to check out the program first hand.

Folks attending the talk/launch

When we first arrived at AcmeBar & Coffee, we were served with some snacks and finger food before the start of the talk. The talk started off with the MC of the event welcoming the guests to the event and
a very informative introduction of plastic surgery by a korean doctor. Well, it was both amusing and interesting to know how some Kpop stars undergo 6 packs treatments in Korea by plastic surgery. Soon after, we were introduced with Men Skin Centre’s latest treatment called Indiba 6 pack.

Indiba Six Park is an inspiration by the latest state of the art treatment that promises to ged rid of your ‘Mufin-Tops’ and building tummy effectively. It works from within and offers great aesthetic results to help us break down fat and effectively drain them away. Sounds like a plan!

They are also having a promotion now for my readers. Here’s the link to sign up.

With beauty products and beauty treatments blossoming in our fast growing society, it is still relatively rare to come across beauty centers targeting only the male audiences.

Men's Skin Centre (MSC) by Bella has become a leading brand in providing advanced, safe and effective skincare technologies and beauty treatments. Men's Skin Centre (MSC) by Bella has grown tremendously in many Asian countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Brunei and Indonesia.

With 32 years of developing and researching, MSC's team of professional beauty experts just recently introduced Indiba Six Pack to the beauty world in Asia. What is Indiba Six Pack? Indiba Six Pack with Proionic Action is the latest technology that is able to increase fats' metabolism thus inducing lipolysis at the same time stimulating drainage. In short, Indiba Six Pack is one of the advanced technologies that you could hardly find on the market which is able to target on your visceral fat around the abdomens area and reduce it.

Towards the end of the talk, we were given a rather special door gift - Age element Essence. Age element Essence is a powerful skin restorative formula that speeds up your skin renewal process. With men usually encounter clogged pores and blackhead problems, this essence is good in opening and clean-up your congested pores, and at the same time restores skin elasticity.

I have personally tried out the Age element Essence and the outcome is pretty obvious overnight! My skin appears rejuvenated and feels firmer.

Friendly people all around

First Trial

While some guys are not really concerned about their belly, some are indeed the opposite to it. For the working class, students or plain busy guys out there without any workout opportunities, you have the best and safest solution to get rid of those pesky "spare tires". As for those who are already working out, you will achieve your six pack with lesser effort using this Indiba Six Pack treatment.

Arriving at Men's Skin Centre by Bella @ Bangsar Village 2, I had some great expectations for the treatment and boy, it didn’t dissapoint. Due to my early arrival, after registration, I was ushered to the waiting area where they served some light refreshments in the form of herbal tea.

A refreshment bar available in the centre

 The waiting area
In just a few minutes, the treatment is ready and off i go to the changing room! I am required to change into their robe and pants together with shoes provided by the center. I was kind of nervous as this was the first time I am involved in any sort of beauty treatment.

One of the many therapy room

What happens during the treatment?

Indiba Six Pack adopts the patented technology of Proionic Action to stimulate and rebalance the ion cellular exchange, thus helping cells in recovering their natural vital function in our body metabolism. The thermal action from this treatment will increase capillary circulation and oxygenate the tissues, bringing the effect of draining and eliminating impurities from the body.

During treatment, the beauty therapist first stimulates my so called lymphatic nodes on the abdomen with a small electrode to activate the body's energy points for lymphatic drainage. Then, a conductive cream was applied to facilitate the main electrode in delivering the adequate frequencies for ion exchange, fat breaking and drainage.

In the final stage, a different electrode will be used to work on the stomach, focusing on deeper points in the abdomen and increasing the internal tissue temperature to act effectively on deeper stored fat.

The whole session took up about 45 minutes. The process is really relaxing and comes along perfectly well with the dim lighting in the room and very slow calm music.

This treatment works efficiently to reduce localized fat volume, especially at the tummy area. Immediately after the first session, there is a visible change in the tummy which seems firmer accompanied by an inch loss. As the day goes on, i find myself drinking more water than usual due to the detoxifying process going on in the body.

So, what more excuse do we need to further convince ourselves in getting the six packs we've always wanted?

Indiba Six Pack is not only designed to effectively break fats, improve circulation and increase cell metabolism, it also strengthens our muscle and improve the skin elasticity. It is a great way to reduce water retention problems and eliminate all the nasty toxins and fat deposits left behind by years of meats, coffee and junk food.

Ramadhan Buffet @ Bangi Golf Resort (BGR) - Bangi #BGRmakan

Only about a week back, i had a chance to try out another Ramadhan Buffet dinner at Bangi Gold Resort, have a look at my previous write up on another Ramadhan Buffet @ Nook - Aloft. Special thanks to the brother for adding me as his plus 1.

I can definitely list this buffet as one of the nicer ones i've had in a long long time. I really enjoyed every single one of the food being served on that night. The Buffet brings about a list of local traditional cuisine as well as a variety of dishes from around the world.

My favourite!! Butter Prawns

I have to start off with this dish, I just have to!! Am a HUGEEEE fan of butter prawns and heck yeah this dish delivers. Can't really remember how many ekor (pieces) i had on that night, but i definitely had more than 8!

Finishing off a single dish is not a problem. Why? Reason being that the chef personally promised us that there will be an unlimited refill for all dishes.... Speaking of eat till you drop huh?....

H - Artistry 2014 @ SPICA, Penang

Just a few weekends back, i've had a chance to attend the much anticipated super clubbing event of the year H-Artistry 2014 @ Spica together with my brother. It was definitely a night to remember with all the beautiful people around accompanied by free flow of quality alcohol.
A bird's eye view of the very packed concourse.
This year was actually the second time i'm attending this super clubbing event of the year, and the crowd was anything but disappointment, the people attending literally doubled in size compared to last year's.

Happy mother's day! (Belated)

I dedicate this short post to the lady who brought me into this world healthy and in a good enough shape.

Mum and Martin
Although not entirely healthy herself, she's a lady who never put herself first above all things, her concern towards other people makes her very tired sometimes.

What makes mum happy? Food!
She's a lady who loves durian and has a sweet tooth, but try to limit those sugar intake alright, not good for health.

Just last week, i had a chance to try out The Entertainer's smartphone application at one of their many merchants "La Mexicana" - A Mexican themed restaurant serving only authentic Mexican cuisines. I'd like to thank The Entertainer for the invitation, the owner of La Mexicana as well as my brother.

A warm welcoming entrance
The restaurant was located in a rather quiet place inside of Hock Choon building. The ambiance was great and due to the limited seats available there in La Mexicana, it makes a good hangout spot for couples, friends or family who prefers a less hectic setup for their dinner. Speaking of dinner, i managed to take a few shots of the Mexican dinner we had on that day.

Ensure - A milk product by Abbott

First of all, am really not a fan of milk, i remember those days when i puke whenever i drink milk when i was a child, have to mix with Milo just to force it in. It's just me and the taste of milk i guess.

As i grow up, i start to understand the importance of milk, the calcium and stuff which is very essential for the body. But still, the taste of milk do turn me off once in a while.

A week back, i've got a chance to work for Abbott in promoting their milk product, Ensure. And i can tell you this, this milk tastes good! It comes in 3 different flavour, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla.

ENSURE FOS provides a complete and balanced formula enhanced with prebiotics FOS.
Okay, so now one may ask what is FOS? In a simple non scientific term, FOS means dietary fibre. Fibre, which is good for the digestive system. Say goodbye to constipation!

I've consumed Ensure with FOS for about a month now, definitely had a better time in the toilet, if you get what i mean. ;)
